Huge thank you to Umpel for all his dedication and commitment to making great art, following deadlines and having fun whilst working. It’s an honour to work with artists like Umpel and my work as an organiser wouldn’t be possible without the artistic talent and drive. Keep dreaming big and I’ll keep pitching the ideas!
City of Sydney’s Oxford Street Cultural and Creative Spaces
I had a great night, representing Create, Innovate Gosford City, mingling with some great people within the Creative Industries of Australia, as well as key government staff, that can make such a difference to arts and culture.
There were live paste-ups happening whilst The Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore MP, addressed the floor. It’s excellent to see businesses, council and the like, championing the use of empty spaces for creative industries.
I feel very privileged to be part of a unique Contemporary Australian art scene that is right at the fringe of the artist world. I’m not into white walls. I respect high art institutions, to a degree. Yet, it is within the low (or no) budget, where upon my heart shall remain.
Theatre Lane and Bodhi Festival
This weekend Perkins Street will be closed off from traffic for The Bodhi Festival.
This is a great time to visit the Hunter Street Mall to see our artworks, whilst being part of a very special and unique event.
We have given our donation and are looking forward to visiting the ‘Abode of Peace’, which many will know as the (former) David Jones building.

An original/humerous/ironic/streetart versions of the posters for plays and musicals (not movies)
E.g. cats, Oklahoma, les miserables, phantom of the opera, rent, wicked, grease, street car named desire, fame, lion king, death of a salesman, guys and dolls, mousetrap, Spiderman turn off the dark, Mary poppins, love never dies, Annie, an officer and a gentleman, Chicago Oliver, hello dolly, my fair lady, hairspray, evita, rocky horror picture show, fiddler on the roof, Jesus Christ superstar, 42nd street, we will rock you, miss Saigon, mamma mia, the sound of music……..
Or you could…
Imagine your idea is going to be made into a stage play/musical (no, not a movie) and this would be the poster promoting it!
Or any original interpretation of a theatre production poster (not a movie!).”

OVERVIEW: Paper artworks inspired by theatre posters with a focus on older styles to compliment the vinyl artwork on the Victoria Theatre. The posters are to be installed on both sides of the lane way, capturing the feel of a rich history of theatre that the area is famous for.
The following examples of theatre posters indicate the potential style and scope the project could have. The poster’s content can vary from black and white to full colour, a mix of text, images and an array of fonts. The sizes can vary from small handbill sizes, to large A1.
